| Summary |
Grant funded programs at North Shore Community College provide an array of resources to people in our service area.
Through these programs youth are able to access safe and meaningful pre-college opportunities, adults and non-traditional students receive support in making the transition to higher education, credit students enjoy a rich variety of learning options, and college-level learning is tailored to community and employment-based situations. |

| Pre-college & Adult Basic Education programs |
The MCAS Pathways program provides students in need of a high school competency determination with intense and focused academic support. Students from Lynn and surrounding communities participate on-site at NSCC’s Lynn campus.
TRIO/Upward Bound and TRIO/Talent Search programs reach the Lynn schools to encourage and support postsecondary attendance for non-traditional and potential first generation college students.
The Adult Learning Center, supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, assists area adults with basic literacy skills, GED preparation, and workforce readiness preparation. NSCC’s GED Test Center tests over 500 adults each year, many of whom continue on to enroll at NSCC. |

| Transitional & Non-traditional Student Support pograms |
The Challenges, Choices, and Change program funded through Perkins Vocational Education monies, engages displaced homemakers and single parents during their first semester with demanding academic coursework, internships, and peer support.
TRIO/Student Support Services uses a learning community approach to support student success. Advisors, linked curriculum, and academic tutoring support assist these non-traditional students in gaining the confidence and skills to succeed.
Using a cohort model, the MA Department of Education supported Project Enable, works with first semester GED recipients ensuring that they develop a support network and success strategies to persevere in postsecondary education. |

| College Level Learning Options & Instructional Support |
The Bridges to the STARS program, funded by a McNair grant through the MA Board of Higher Education, recruits and supports women and minorities interested in pursuing careers in math, engineering, and technology-related fields.
Building Careers in Early Childhood Education is funded by the MA Department of Education to support the training and education of local pre-school educators and aid them in obtaining associates’ degrees.
NSCC’s Service Learning Initiative received a three-year grant from the Cummings Foundation to support faculty projects, student scholarships, as well as increase the development of service learning experiences for college curriculum.
Hosted by NSCC and funded by a Perkins Vocational Education grant, the North Shore Tech Prep Consortium consists for 15 area high schools that offer 2+2 curriculum that results in credit awarded for high school courses that connect to college level programs.
A USDOE funded Title III Strengthening Institutions grant provides multiyear funding to improve student outcomes related to workforce readiness competencies, a cohesive academic advising system, and an ESL Career Institute to integrate content area curriculum with ESL instruction. |
