NSCC Foundation, Inc.

The NSCC Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit corporation, fiscally separate from the College, and organized under the laws of Massachusetts. Its independent Board of Directors works to raise funds and provide support for programs that enhance and expand educational opportunity at North Shore Community College.

The purpose of the NSCC Foundation is to receive private gifts, bequests, and donations, and to account for and manage monies contributed. Presently, the Foundation administers a $5 million general endowment fund, named scholarship accounts, and general-purpose grants.

As a qualified 501(c)(3) corporation, all gifts to The NSCC Foundation, Inc. are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by current law.

NSCC Foundation, Inc. History

As educational costs began to rise, so did the need for additional financial assistance for North Shore students. In 1983, The NSCC Foundation, Inc. was established by a small group of business and community leaders to build necessary endowment through private fund-raising to ensure quality and accessible education to deserving students.

The mission of the Foundation is to raise funds for technical assistance, facilities, cultural arts programs and to aid financially burdened, but academically distinguished, North Shore Community College students. This fund-raising becomes more imperative as government continues to cut funds to education.

Since 1985, the Foundation has raised and directly distributed over $1,500,000 to more than 2000 NSCC students. For many students, this aid tipped the scale in allowing them to continue their education.

Annual Scholarship Breakfast

The North Shore Community College Foundation awarded over $135,000 in scholarship aid for 185 NSCC students during the 2008 Scholarship Breakfast held May 15, 2008 at the Danversport Yacht Club.  Since the awards were given in 1987, more than 2000 students have received $1,500,000.

The NSCC Foundation currently administers more than 100 named scholarship funds and additional grants.  Some of the awards recognize individuals in the North Shore area or at the College, while others are supported by businesses who share the philosophy of North Shore Community College. The NSCC Foundation is thankful for the support from companies including Axcelis Technologies, Inc., Beverly National Bank, Brooksby Village, Cummings Properties Foundation, Danversbank, Danvers Rotary, Debits Payroll, Inc., Kiwanis Club of Danvers, East Boston Savings Bank, North Shore Bank, Eastern Bank, Salem Five Bank, Gorton's of Gloucester, Sungard Higher Education Managed Services, TD Banknorth and The T.J.X. Companies who currently provide major corporate scholarship funds. Financial awards range from $300 to $1,500.
