Open Membership!
Welcome to the NSCC Alumni Association. If you are a graduate
of North Shore Community College, you
are automatically a member.
The Association provides members with opportunities for both social and educational exchange, as well as sponsoring Scholarship Opportunities to graduates continuing their education. The Alumni Office serves as the primary resource and support center for the Alumni Association and is located at the Danvers campus. The Office maintains a computerized listing of Alumni, coordinates activities, and assists in class or program reunions.
Each year, the Association sponsors a variety of educational, cultural, and social programs for all members of the NSCC community.
Alumni Association Awards Scholarship
The NSCC Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 Alumni Association Scholarships - Albert Ferdman, Luz Garay and Melinda Lavis. This year 3 scholarships of $1000 are being awarded to NSCC graduates. Awards are made annually based on merit, academic scholarship and individual achievements. Recipients may be graduates of the Class of 2008 or graduates of any other year who are members of the Alumni Association and continuing their education at a 4-year institution.
Albert Ferdman is a 2008 graduate of the Engineering Science program. He was the Vice President of NSCC’s Engineering Club, member of the NSCC Math Club, was awarded a certificate in the National Mathematics Competition and worked as a tutor in math and science. Albert emigrated to the US with his family from Russia and said "Being an engineer has always been my dream….coming to America opened many opportunities to me. I am ready for new challenges."
Luz Garay graduated in 2008 from the Developmental Disabilities program. She returned to school through NSCC’s Women in Transition program and is a mother of four and grandmother of three. Luz was a Dean’s List student, member of Phi Theta Kappa, an Honors program participant in her field, and participated in Performing Arts Council theatre productions. She plans to attend Salem State College majoring in Social Work and to continue her "journey to a confident woman with the knowledge, commitment, compassion and understanding to help others in the new world that NSCC has led me to discover."
Melinda Lavis graduated in May from the Liberal Arts program and had previously completed an LPN degree at NSCC in 2005. She will be transferring to Salem State College in the LPN/BSN program. She is a mother of one child, was a Dean’s List student and worked full-time while pursuing her studies at NSCC and at Salem State College.
